I've Retired!!!!!

At 74 years of age, I finally decided enough is enough. I retired from my part time job at Wal-Mart and now plan to devote many, many more hours to my writing. As a matter of fact, I have already completed a children's novel, "The Room With the Piano". It's a mystery type and after I do rewrites, etc., I will be beating the bushes to get it published.

This novel came about when I ran across a piece I had written during a writing course - just the beginning of a story, really. And with my new-found interest in children's books and my research for info about writing and promoting them, I thought that piece would make a good beginning for a children's mystery story.

I've just returned from a semi-vacation at a family reunion. It is so seldom we can get everyone together at the same time, this was a great week. We met in Checotah, Oklahoma, which is equi-distant for all of us. Some of us live here in Hobbs, others in Albuquerque, and still others in southern Illinois.

I guess I'd better get the horses and dogs fed and get to my laptop. Incidentally, I have one female Pomeranian puppy for sale now. She's a cream color, eight weeks old, from 4-5 pound parents. Anyone interested? I'll take $275 for her and make delivery arrangements.

I'm glad to hear from you

I feel really chatty tonight. Hope you don't mind if I ramble on.

IU've just finished my second novel, a Young Adult called FOR LOVE OF TEDDY. I'm deliriously happy. TEDDY is the story of a high school senior who takes on teenage drug dealers to save his mentally challenged brother. It's the story of brotherly love and heroism beyond love.

Anyone who reads thje papers or listens to the news knows how young people these days are so adversely affected, either directly or indirectly, by drug use. It probably breaks your heart as it does mine to hear about some of the abuses which innocent kids are subjected to these days. Whatever happened to just having kids to love?

I want to create stories that inspire young people by giving them heroes worthy of being idolized. Young people make heroes of comic book characters, sports figures (whether they deserve it or not), so why not novels which use peer pressure in a positive way?

So that's my ultimate goal. I love to write, yes, but more than that, I love to do what I can to try to influence young people to reach their full potential.

About me: I am going to be 74 in September. I am about to retire (again) and hope to spend much more time writing. Of course, I still have my Miniature Horses and my kennel and cattery of registered dogs and Persian cats. (Any time someone is looking for a terrific pet, get in touch with me.) I hope to sell my Miniature Horses, not by choice but because I may have to. I love the little horses and have had horses most of my adult life, but there comes a time when you can't always do what you want to do. I'd be happy to hear from anyone interested in Miniature Horses.

I guess that's enough about me for now. I love to hear from fellow writers or animal lovers, so come on back and send your friends. I'll try to keep in trouch.
